Code Name: Rook is another fantastic installment in the Jameson Force Security series. I enjoy the time we get to spend with this motley crew! Cage Murdock has recently returned from an operation that was successful, but he still needs to decompress so he heads to a local bar. He's always been the kind of guy that likes short term arrangements with women; he's more of a player than anything else. While a certain woman catches his attention, he decides to look and not do anything further, she turns the tables when she approaches him. Jaime is a strong woman who works to make sure women and children are safe if and when they are in dangerous situations. She loves her job and her family, but her brother Brian is causing her some strife right now as he keeps asking for money. When she sees Cage at the bar, she makes a move and the two end up hitting it off immediately. The relationship between Cage and Jaime develops very quickly, but there is a huge secret that Cage is keeping with regard to what his occupation is. He's told her one thing, but by the time he is ready to tell her the truth, so much has happened that he's terrified he's going to lose her. Will she be able to forgive him? I enjoyed both Jaime and Cage. They were great characters and the story moved along swiftly. I did like the role that Anna was able to play in giving Jaime some perspective on Cage and Jameson as a whole. Plus, it's always great to see some of our favorites from earlier Jameson Force Security books. I'm looking forward to the next one in this series!

This standalone novel is a fantastic romantic suspense set in this author’s wildly popular Jameson Force Security series. True to this author’s previous works, the character development in this book is impeccable and the story is interesting and flows well. This was a relatively quick read for me and that is because I found myself so immersed in the story that I was unable to put the book down. Both Cage and Jaime are likable characters and the chemistry between them is off the charts. Jaime is a breath of fresh air and a strong, kind-hearted heroine. She values honesty above all else after being burned in the past. Of course, Cage has landed himself in a bit of a pickle in lying to her about his profession. This former playboy, ex-Navy Seal is positively irresistible and it was entertaining to see how he continued to get himself all tied up into knots. The romantic aspects along with the kindle melting moments had me swooning and the suspenseful moments contained some excellent twists and turns. As Code Name: Rook is a standalone, I didn’t find myself lost but instead, I became most curious about the secondary characters and their stories. I am excited to go back and read the previous novels. If you are looking for an entertaining romantic suspense with a well flushed out plot, an engaging writing style, and captivating characters then you won't want to miss out on this book!

Code Name: Rook is the sixth book in this fabulous series and it has the same time line as the previous one, Code Name: Ghost. In that instalment, we learnt that Cage had met a woman that had him intrigued and wanting to spend more time with her. It is not something Cage does, relationships, and it is the reason why he lied about his job. And I get that because if you are only in for a quick hook up, you don't need to give all your details. But his lie and deception becomes a bigger problem than he ever anticipated once leaving Vegas, because in this instance....... what happened in Vegas definitely didn't stay in Vegas. Now Cage has some explaining to do and in this case, a little grovelling wouldn't hurt. I liked Cage, a lot and I think Jaime is his prefect match. She can hold her own, has a very sensitive side but also enough guts to do her own job. These qualities are what made Cage fall for her so instantly. The first half of this book is filling in the gaps that we missed out on in book five, and the second half is Cage executing two missions and saving his marriage. There is no grand gesture but I did appreciate how his patience and persistence won her back. There is also no epilogue because this series is still ongoing and we get to see more and more of the previously couples in the next instalment. And from the small snippet we get, looks like Ladd might have his hands full with his next assignment. I am very fascinated to see where this one goes.
