About the author

Shirley Allen is Senior Lecturer in Early Childhood Studies at Middlesex University, where she co-leads the EYPS programme and is a tutor on the Early Childhood Studies degree. Previously, she has worked in teacher education at the University of Hertfordshire on undergraduate and PGCE programmes. Peter Gordon works in Primary ITT for the Forest Independent Primary Collegiate, an Essex-based SCITT, as well as working for Middlesex University as a Programme Advisor for Work-Based Learning and runs an MA module on leadership for the professional development of teachers. Peter was an infant headteacher for several years and worked in an advisory capacity as a primary School Improvement Partner.
