I have already played Sonic Frontiers before but I haven't actually seen the prequel comic or prequel animation. So in preparation for replaying Frontiers, I decided to check them out. This is a very neat addition to the story of Frontiers, showcasing a minor scuffle that Sonic, Tails and Amy deal with, while showcasing what Eggman was doing mere minutes before the game starts. I did feel like the game started somewhat abruptly, and this comic has the content that I'd expect from a longer intro. I really like that it's free, would have been neat to include it as a free mini comic with the physical game as well. While the content of the comic isn't what I'd call substantial on it's own, it's purpose is to contextualize events before the game starts, and I think it does that wonderfully. The art is great as usual, a big fan of the IDW Sonic comics, and it gives that vibe and ties into the new game so well.
