My name is Stanley Scott. I am a dedicated public health major, labor assistance professional, and certified alcohol and drug counselor based in California. With a keen interest in the intersection of culture, policy, and well-being, I have witnessed firsthand the transformative power of both healthcare initiatives and hip hop in various communities. My work in substance abuse counseling has given me a front-row seat to the health challenges faced by the hip hop generation, while my labor background provides a broad perspective on systemic issues and solutions. Inspired by the sweeping changes in healthcare during my lifetime, from the expansion of Medicaid to the implementation of the Affordable Care Act, I bring a unique blend of professional expertise and personal passion to "Hip Hop Healthcare." This book represents my vision of bridging the gap between policy and culture, using the lens of hip hop to examine and advocate for a more equitable healthcare system.
