About this eBook

A brutal murder, a suspect in jail, and an execution planned—but what if the wrong person is about to be killed?

When a fellow U.S. Marshal asks Anita Blake to fly to a tiny community in Michigan’s Upper Peninsula on an emergency consult, she knows time is running short. When she arrives, there is plenty of proof that a young wereleopard killed his uncle in the most gruesome and bloody way possible. As the mounting evidence points to him, a warrant of execution is already under way.

But something seems off about the murder, and Anita has been asked for her expert opinion on the crime scene. Despite escalating pressure from local cops and the family’s cries for justice for their dead patriarch, Anita quickly realizes that the evidence doesn’t quite add up.

Time is against Anita, as the tight-knit community is up in arms and its fear of supernaturals is growing. She races to uncover the truth and determine whether the Marshals have caught the killer or are about to execute an innocent man—all in the name of justice.

I own every single one of her Anita Blake Vampire Slayer books and this one disappointed me so much. I was so hyped up for over a year-and-a-half about reading her new book soon as I found out that it was coming out, but it didn't live up to the rest of the series. where's all the love and crime solving and everything that's been every single book that she has written for Anita Blake. I was hoping that she would finally decide to get pregnant or would get to see their wedding. But instead I get some random town where none of the big characters are there except for nicky. Talking about a case that's already partially solved then saving the person he's still f****** dies. Where's the badass that Anita has become. The Evil Queen that rules over the vampires and is the Boogeyman for shifters. The Horseman of War that everyone fears in the supernatural world. The loving and protective person she is with her poly group.

(No Spoiler Info.) Finally back to more of the crime fighting action and not just stright word porn. That being said, I felt the case and interviews were really drug out and repetitive. Anita seemed to be literally, a mess, and mentally all over the place. Hopefully the next book is a knock out since there's plenty of different directions the next story could go. Left us with a clift hanger.

I was expecting more..it gets to be repetitive after awhile, every book she gives too many explanations from previous ones so half of the new book it's stuff that (if you have read the books)you already know..i have a tequila shot every time I read "dungeon" and I just skip a couple of pages once I start reading about her many guns...Spoiler alert...there's no vampire hunting, zombie raising nor anything that won't be repeated on the next five books...keep the money..I want mine back.
