‘Books can be dangerous. The best ones should be labeled “This could change your life”’. So yes, be warned: This book could really change your life. (Pro-tip: For the full experience, you’ve GOT to use the Digital Companion as you read the book!!) Everything in this book screams of the immense belief and empowerment that Pastor How and Pastor Lia have in young people! And what strikes me is that their belief and love in young people does not just extend to one generation of young people, but as Pastor Lia says in the book, ‘GenerationS is having layers and layers of leaders at the same time’. The book may be co-authored by the 2 senior pastors (love the creative use of the different icons to represent the dual voices by the way), but this book is definitely not about them… In fact, you can just feel Pastor How and Pastor Lia’s heart to just want to boast about the GenerationS (yes, layers of leaders at the same time!) of amazing young people in HOGC through the countless stories that are shared in the book! I also really love the multiple voices represented in this book, be it from the contributing writers across the globe, or the inside stories from the staff and closest people to the team. It is incredible to see how Heart of God church’s heart for young people is not limited to the young people in their church, but their heart is for GenerationS of young people all across the world! To have all royalties and proceeds going to the fund to further the cause of GenerationS instead of it being for profit gain, is a true testament of this. To quote Pastor How, it is ‘Going beyond “Every nation in my generation” to “Every Generation in my nation”’. This concept has completely lifted my mindset! Totally can’t wait to get my hands on Volume 2! (The cliff hanger is killing me!!!!)

Love this book because it is so full of heart and humour! It is so personal; it is like having the authors, Pastor How and Pastor Lia, sitting with you by the fireplace. I am so touched and grateful for how they have poured their lives and bared their hearts to love and build youths not just for 1 or 2 years, but 20 years and going. The Digital Companion also brings to LIFE the stories of the kids who built a world class church. It's one thing to read and see photos in the book, it is quite another to hear and see videos of these kids (who are grown up now!). Especially love the homegrown pastors whose teenage selves I saw in photos in the book, and then their current adult selves preaching in the Digital Companion!! To anyone who wants to build GenerationS, Pastor How and Pastor Lia will also be both your companions and forerunners on this journey! Get ready your HEART, MIND and SPIRIT as you read & receive this book that carries more than just words or nice quotes.

This book inspired me to build a stronger, younger church with my pastors and leaders! The pastors write like they shared an all-access pass into their lives with humour, ‘aha’ moments, practical tips and wisdoms. There’s even a digital companion with photos and videos to breathe life and vision into these principles! I found more than a wellspring of proven and “radical-enough” principles to challenge my thinking. As a volunteer, I also found refreshment, inspiration and comfort for a COVID-fatigued heart and soul. The heartwarming stories of youths in Heart of God Church captivated and dared me to dream of what’s possible when a church is united to build #GenerationS for God! If this sounds too good to be true, the authors also end the book with a preview of a “tell-all '' follow up bearing the scars of heartbreaks that can come with the heart and hard work of ministry. I look forward to the next volume with anticipation!

About the author

Pastor How and his wife Pastor Lia are founding senior pastors of Heart of God Church Singapore and co-authors of the book GenerationS.

They are Gen X-ers who raised Millennial leaders to grow Gen Z leaders to reach Gen Alphas.

Pastor How believes youth are leaders today, not just tomorrow, and has raised up thousands passionate for God.

He is the visionary, leadership, strategy and organisation guy. His passion and burden is to see Strong GenerationS Churches built, worthy of God’s glory. Pastor How is also a businessman and funder but what matters most to him is being a godly father to GenerationS of young pastors and leaders!
