Tequila Rose: Volume 1

Tequila Rose is the first book in a duet by author Willow Winters and it ends in a cliffhanger. Magnolia's boyfriend, Robert, breaks up with her suddenly when she is away to college and she has a drunk "revenge" one night stand with a tall and sexy guy named Brody. Not the best decision, but she was only 21 years old and hurting. The next day, all hell breaks loose in her life and she leaves his place without getting his number and not knowing his last name. Forward 4 years, Magnolia is back in her hometown in Beauport, Carolina. She has a 3 year old daughter and the last few years have been really rough on her. Robert is back in her life on a on again off again friends with benefits capacity. Brody moves to Beauport of all places to open a bar and brewery here and they run into each other. So this is the setup. Please know that this book frustrated me to no end. Magnolia is indecisive, young and beat down by her fate. She is torn between Robert and Brody. I did not like her and how she handled the whole situation. Nor did I like Robert. I feel he took advantage of Magnolia and manipulated the situation to his benefit. Some of his behavior was full of red flags to me but I get why Magnolia couldn't see it. However, Brody is a gem of a book hero. I liked him a lot. He fights for Magnolia from the moment they meet again and he is just a genuinely good guy. However frustrating this book was to read, I couldn't put it down and I can't wait for the second part of this duet.
