About this ebook

'THE HARD-BITTEN CHAMPION OF BRITISH HEROIC FANTASY' - Joe Abercrombie

'HEROISM AND HEARTBREAK . . . GEMMELL IS ADRENALINE WITH SOUL' - Brent Weeks

The gateway between past and present has opened, and evil forces of enormous power are unleashed. To close the gateway, the Sword of God must be found, and all that is known is that it shines in the clouds above the City of Beasts - a city ruled by the Dark Queen.

Only one man can stand at the gateway of time - Jon Shannow, the Last Guardian. The hunters from his past who seek his death are but the first obstacle. For what Shannow doesn't know is that his actions could warp time itself - and herald the doom of worlds.

There will be comparison between the Dark Tower and Jerusalem Man series. Both feature complex, ruthless, men of conviction. Gunslingers making their way in apocalyptic future worlds, driven by their singular beliefs. To me the Jon Shannow stories have a faster pace and this 2nd novel flows nicely from the first. A really good read. Give it a crack!!

The effortless way that the author ties history and mythology to a new world makes it seem like the reality of things are seen by his eyes alone. and yet he shows us a world of fear and fire and steers us through to the tightest of endings that only the Jerusalem Man could ride through. a well written book and a fantasy story that fires the imagination. five stars indeed

I have every book that David Gammell had published and have read each trilogy/saga at least three times. I've been waiting for the electronic copies to be released but wasn't expecting them to cost as much as the paperbacks especially when they only cost a fraction of the cost to produce. When there's no costs incurred for the paper, ink, binding material and transportation of books to shops and customers the publishers are just being greedy. Electronic books should cost no more than 1.99 in any currency. All that the publisher has done is deterred loyal David Gemmell fans such as myself from purchasing the electric copies and I'm sure also lessened the uptake from other readers wanting to try any of David's books. David Gemmell is a great author and believe me when I say that I would have purchased one copy of each book had I not fealt that I was being ripped off.
