Antjie Krog en Ingrid de Kok het die verse geskryf, en Fiona Moodie het kunswerk in volkleur geskep. Soos in Fynbosfeetjies, kry die plantjies se wonderlike volksname lewe en word die wetenskaplike name ook aangedui in ’n boek wat gou ’n klassieke werk sal raak.

Vetplant Fairies is one of seventeen children’s books artist and writer Fiona Moodie has illustrated since her first book, Benjamin Rocking Horse, was published in Zürich in 1979. Since then, her children’s books have appeared in numerous countries and in many languages. In 1996, Nabulela, her eighth book, was published in seven South African languages. Her illustrations have been exhibited in prominent galleries, including the Metropolitan Museum of Modern Art in New York and the Centre Georges Pompidou in Paris, and the Chihiro Art Museum in Tokyo features her work in its permanent collection. She is the recipient of the SAPPI Prize, the MER Prize, the Exclusive Books/IBBY Prize for Illustration, and has been honoured by UNICEF. She lives in Cape Town.
