About this eBook

Weston was at an impasse in his life, after hearing about his unknown daughter, who’d already been adopted by another family. Only the father had since passed away… So … accepting the mission to track down the missing, blind-in-one-eye, limping war dog named Shambhala—in Alaska—was exactly where he needed to be to sort out this other issue in his life. Finding the dog turned out to be easier than Weston had expected, but sorting out how and why this dog’s owners had been murdered was something else again.

Now a widow, Daniela knew her daughter also needed a father, so she’d contacted Weston, not sure if he even knew of the baby’s existence. When he said he was on the way, she was concerned at what she’d started and that emotion then turned to terror when Sari’s birth mother showed up at Daniela’s doorstep, looking for her daughter again.

Things turn ugly when Weston’s war dog investigation impacts his daughter’s life and her new mother. He must do something, or everything he’s finally found will be lost.

Eighth book in the series. Was not on the the better ones. Weston asks for the assignment which involves a trip to Alaska. On arrival he is met at the airport much to his confusion. And there it's starts a convoluted and tangled plot which involves death and mayhem. A dog with a sense of honour, a military man needing to change is life, a female who we don't really get to know and the law who are short staffed. A reread of certain passages is the only way to get the gist of the plot because it's just too complex. The events all happen over the course of a couple of days and when it culminates it's like a tsunami. However, girl gets boy and we believe they have their happy after. I did not connect to the hero and heroine as I may have done in many of Ms Mayer's books I have read before this one.

This is an enjoyable read. Weston's book has a lot going on as the storyline unfolds. The storyline is filled with a complex blend of emotion, drama, tension, suspense, turmoil, mystery and twists. The book is well written and engaging. All together a very entertaining read and a solid addition to this wonderful series. I am freely posting a forthright review.

It's time for Weston to finally go to Anchorage and see his daughter he never knew he had fortunately there is also a K9 to look for while he is there, but things do not go as expected almost straight away. Daniela isn't what Weston expected however he can see she is an amazing Mum and when he meets his daughter Sari he is thrown thrown through a raft of emotions and stuck trying to decide all in or all out. At first it looks like finding Shambhala is going to be the easy part of the trip however twists and surprises start popping up as well as a cray cray Angel and you are dying to know how everything fits together and to get there you go through plenty of highs and lows with the emotions!! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
