When Kurt Manchester was heading toward his home town in Kentucky after serving thirteen years as a navy SEAL he had mixed feelings, Kur's life had changed when his mother died and his father took to the bottle, he was thrust into the foster care system and from then on was always in trouble. He was on a mission to rescue a retired war dog, Sabine, who had fallen from the radar, these dogs served their country and saved many lives and deserved a happy retirement., this one had been seen scrounging food near a diner and was in danger of being shot. Bumping into Laurie Ann had been the last thing on his mind........or had it ? He and Laurie Ann had been in love through high school but they were from different sides of the track, she was heading for med school and he was heading toward prison or worse, he had to get away, his salvation would be the navy and that became his life until his accident. He ran into Laurie Ann on his first day and it was clear from the start that the attraction was still there but things in the town didn't go well, the police have long memories and second chances don't come easy. A gang of young thugs were terrorising the town and Kurt, and in turn Laurie Ann who was now a doctor, became targets. The action is fast paced , the injuries and deaths begin to escalate but would anyone believe bad boy Kurt even if he had spent thirteen years serving his country. Love blossomed between Kurt and Laurie Ann but she had reasons for not being able to leave the town, could Kurt settle here or would his reputation still count against him? Could he find Sabine ? Another great story in the K9 series I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Kurt and Laurie Ann's story will have your heart aching as it also races with excitement. The skillfully crafted combination of emotion, drama, action, suspense and danger is intoxicating and consuming. I was quickly pulled into this story and found myself having a very hard time putting it aside to take care of the other things that had to be done. Laurie Ann and Kurt were easy to like and feel for. I was rooting for them all the way. Of my own accord I am posting an objective review.

Kurt is looking for Sabine. She is missing and could be in considerable danger. Laurie Ann was his sweetheart from high school that he apparently has yet to truly get over. He just arrives in town and runs into Laurie Ann and she is still a beauty. She realized her dream of becoming a pediatrician and a mom. Raising her son on her own while going to medical school is no small feat. Disowned or barely tolerated by her parents. She only had her sister to help her. Kurt had joined the Navy to get out of the bad boy curse he was locked into. Sabine a beautiful War Dog has been dropped into the unknown. No one to help her adjust to the outside world. People hurting her and trying to kill her but she is smarter than they are. Well since I am about to delve into the realm of spoilers, I have to stop. Kurt is all grown up and so is Laurie Ann. These books are fabulous and you do not want to miss a single one in the series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
