WHISKY AND WISHES by Donna Grant is a holiday novella found in the author’s Dark Kings series following the revelations in book eighteen INFERNO. NOTE: If you have not read book eighteen INFERNO there may be spoilers in my review. Told from third person perspectives WHISKY AND WISHES focuses on the rekindling relationship between Constantine, King of Kings, and his mate, Fae warrior Rhiannon. With Con and Rhi’s relationship starting anew, the other Dragon Kings and their mates have booked time away to allow Con and Rhi to rekindle their love but the approach of the human holidays aka Christmas, Hanukkah, and the New Year, Rhi sets about to decorate the castle, preparing for a welcome home celebration for the Kings, the Reapers and the Fae, but there continues to be heart break and pain as Rhi and Con have not heard from the other Dragons and their loved ones, who were sent to the other realm. As Rhi and Con come to a decision, the Kings struggle to locate one of their own. WHISKY AND WISHES is a quick read; a fast paced novella that bridges between the Dark Kings and Donna Grant’s new spin off series beginning with Dragon Revealed (Varek, King of Lichens) in January 2021. The premise is entertaining; the romance is spicy and seductive; the characters are numerous and familiar. WHISKY AND WISHES is a bit of a filler between series, setting up for a new adventure with the dragons and their mates.

Whiskey and Wishes took my heart by storm. I was swept into a world full of unconditional love, boundless joy, and endless hope. Nothing is impossible and everything is in reach. This is a whole new revelation that can either be held onto tightly or tossed aside. The option is always there to savor this Heaven on Earth or let it slip through your fingers and allow paradise to disappear. Nothing is set in stone, and choices still need to be made. Until then, allow yourself to bask in this new beginning and savor each and every precious second. Donna Grant has thrown a happy bomb into my world with this marvelous story! I never know what wonders to expect from her next, but this was such a blessing. I found myself in awe of the power and gentleness that hope can bring to even the most devastated of lives. When nothing is left, you will find hope waiting quietly and patiently just around the corner ready to heal our broken heart and comfort our shattered soul. Grant is truly an otherworldly gifted storyteller to be able to so easily transcend our present and place us so firmly in a world rich with radiant life, draped in indescribable beauty, and full of limitless possibilities. My hope is to never leave her world of stories and to lose myself in them for the rest of my days.

Oh my word. If you aren't into the holiday mood at the moment you will be after reading Whisky and Wishes. The holiday through Rhi's eyes is fantastic. Months have passed since the Dragon Kings stopped the others. It is a time to celebrate. It is a time for Rhi and Con to rediscover what they lost. It is time to think and plan after Erith's revelations. It is time to consider the consequences fo any decision that they might make. Whisky and Wishes was a dream come true for me. Book after book in the Dragon Kings Series has had me hoping that Rhi would be able to heal her broken heart. And now, even the kings knew that the King and Queen of the Dragon Kings needed some time alone. This was a wonderful fun eavesdropping on the two of them. Truths are revealed. Frustrations are discussed. Hopes are shared. Sadness is expressed. Plans are made and unmade and then remade. I can't wait to see what Rhi and Con decide. They think everything is fine, but is it? One of the kings doesn't join in the celebrations and they need to find out why. Thank goodness the author doesn't make the readers wait too long to find out what happens next.
