Wicked Bond

Sometimes the old adage of "saving the best for last" is spot on and in the case of Sawyer Bennett's Wicked Horse series, it is definitely the case. From the beginning of this series, Bridger Payne has been mysterious and he's been the character that I have wanted to really understand and find out what makes him tick. We finally get that chance in this final installment of the series. Bridger Payne has always been focused on both The Wicked Horse and The Silo and it's always been clear that The Silo was a refuge that he needed, more so than wanted. The reasons for that stem from a less than idyllic childhood where his stepmother, who should have cared for him following his father's death, but instead abused him both emotionally and physically. While he doesn't say much, his brooding personality draws you to him regardless. When a badly beaten woman is brought to him in hopes of keeping her safe, his reaction is visceral and he's ready and willing to do what he can to take care of her and nurse her back to health. Maggie Waylon has been fighting for her life for some time due to the situation she got herself into. Not only is she fighting for her own life, but that of her daughter. After being the kept lover of Zeke, the head of a powerful biker gang, she escaped to make sure that the daughter the two of them had together is kept safe. When she finds herself back at the compound, she's beaten by Zeke's old lady and finally rescued by Eric who takes her to Bridger. As Maggie recuperates at Bridger's home, she inevitably falls for the brooding man. She tries her hardest not too, knowing that Bridger believes he can give her nothing more than sex, but she's determined to take what he'll give. In the case of Bridger, he tries to fight his growing feelings for Maggie believing that his past makes him unworthy. Can these two people with such difficult pasts help one another and discover great love together? This book is full of raw emotion, sexual tension and loads of chemistry. Bridger and Maggie are hot as a couple and while the sex is still a large part of this book, I felt like there was a lot more to the emotional connections and the knocking down of walls from the demons of their pasts. This was a great ending to this series and saving Bridger until last was definitely the way to put a big old bow on this series! *Review copy provided by NetGalley and the Publisher*

Wow, have been waiting for Bridger's book since reading the first book in the Wicked Horse series. I am so happy to say that Sawyer Bennett doesn't disappoint with this story at all! Bridger the leader of the Wicked Horse salon and The Silo, we have seen him participate in some way in the previous 4 books, a lot of sex with the different couples but what always stood out to me is his way of stepping in and taking care of those around him when needed. We finally get to find out about Bridger's story and what a doozy it was! Bridger Payne grew up with a really crappy childhood after his dad passed away and he was left with his stepmother. Wow...my heart just ached for that little boy and it really explains why Bridger is the way he is in adulthood. Bridger never expected to meet a woman who would capture his attention completely and make him want to be a normal person but that is what happened when Kyle Sommerville drops off a woman at his doorstep. Maggie Waylon is a girl who got caught up with the wrong crowd and ended up at the Mayhem's Mission compound....an MC gang involved in some shady dealings. Kyle, an undercover ATF agent, explains that Zeke, the head of Mayhem's Mission made this girl his property so she could bore him a child which made Zeke's old lady, Kayla not too happy because she couldn't. Maggie was able to escape the compound and hide her daughter, Belle, but was then caught and taken back to the compound where Kayla was torturing her. Kyle was able to get her out of there and brought her to Bridger's to hide out. Bridger nursed Maggie back to health and quickly became attracted to her. Bridger doesn't do relationships but something about Maggie kept pulling at him. I just adored how this woman was finally able to tame big, bad Bridger. It was a hell of ride to get there, but she eventually did it. The story that Bridger and Maggie go through to get to their happy ending was so sexy, yet so emotional at the same time. Add in Maggie's adorable daughter, Belle and it was perfect. I just loved the way Bridger was with Belle....I never, I mean NEVER would have expected Bridger to be how he was with Belle! Sigh! It was a long wait for Bridger's story, but it was sure worth it!
