About this eBook

The “wonderfully creative, seamless, and stirring” debut novel in the Sword of Truth epic fantasy series by the #1 New York Times bestselling author (Kirkus).

Terry Goodkind’s debut novel, Wizard’s First Rule, was a phenomenon from the moment it was first published by Tor Books in 1994. In it, readers are drawn into the magical New World, where ordinary Westland forest guide Richard Cypher accepts his extraordinary destiny. As a Seeker of Truth, Richard is the only one who can stop the tyrannical wizard Darken Rahl from seizing the all-powerful Boxes of Orden.

When the beautiful and mysterious Kahlan Amnell appears in Richard's forest seeking help, his humble world is turned on its head. After proving that he can wield the Sword of Truth, Richard knows that a confrontation with Darken Rahl looms. But Kahlan beseeches him to reach beyond his sword and invoke his inner nobility in order to face the dangerous challenges ahead.

the first book is amazing. it definitely has all the elements of good writing, good world building, and a decent villain all the way across. The problem is all the rest of the books. made the mistake of buying and reading the second book and it is the first book I have ever thrown across the room because I was so mad. do not buy any of the other books stick with just this one. The other books will ruin the experience of the first one for you. whether it be the main characters, IQ dropping through the floor and making very dumb decisions, or just what happens in the other books it is aggravating to read.

I found this book to be very engaging. I enjoyed it cover to cover. At times it seemed descriptions during certain events went a little over board, but it did not detract me from wanting to continue reading and enjoying it. I am now wanting to read the next book in the series The Stone of Tears, however Google Play does not have the English version listed. In fact they are missing Books 2-5 in the series. Strangely enough the German versions appear to be listed. Attention Google, please get the English versions listed as well. I really don't want to go to another provider like Amazon or B&N. I would prefer to keep my books through one provider. Please offer the whole series and not just a select few.

should be three stars. However, it was written at a time when good fantasy writers were almost nonexistent. I also first read it as a child. Compare this to rothfuss, Sanderson, hell Brent Weeks is a better author..want some one from the time period that he was writing this read Robert Jordan..they make this look horrible...i still re read the series occasionally though....
