About this ebook

This book is designed to provide students with knowledge to be able to explore various research topics in the field of linguistics and language education. This book is suitable for students in the language department considering that it contains discussion on theoretical, interdisciplinary, and applied linguistic research. Discussion on research in the fields of phonology and morphology represent theoretical linguistic research. Meanwhile, discussion on sociolinguistic and pragmatic research issues represent interdisciplinary linguistic studies. In addition, applied linguistic research issues are represented by the research in the field of language education. This book is expected to encourage students to be able to dig out more Language research topics as they have been provided with some knowledge on theories of various language disciplines.

About the author

Yana Shanti Manipuspika was born in Malang on November 5, 1984. She completed her bachelor’s degree in English Literature at the Faculty of Cultural Studies, Universitas Brawijaya in 2006. She obtained her master’s degree (2009) in Applied Linguistics from The University of Newcastle, Australia. She is currently a teaching staff at the Faculty of Cultural Studies, Universitas Brawijaya (2010–present). Her research and teaching interests are in applied linguistics, specifically Translation Studies.

Emy Sudarwati was born in Tulungagung, April 14, 1983. She is the first of two children. She completed her undergraduate studies at the Department of English Literature, State University of Malang in 2001. In 2008 she continued her education to the master level in the field of English Education. Currently, she is pursuing her doctoral degree at the same university and she has been teaching staff at the English department at the Faculty of Cultural Studies Universitas Brawijaya since 2006 until now. Her interest in language teaching and applied linguistics encouraged her to make this book.

Yuni Astuti was born on June 1, 1976, in Malang. In 2003, she graduated from the Faculty of Language and Literature Education's English Language Education Study Program at the State University of Malang. In 2013, she pursued a master’s degree in English Language Education at the State University of Malang. She is now an English lecturer at Brawijaya University's Faculty of Cultural Studies in Malang. She is interested in language teaching and applied linguistics, so she is eager to contribute to the creation of this book.

Tantri Refa Indhiarti was born in Balikpapan on January 19, 1987 and completed a Bachelor's Degree in English Literature at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Brawijaya in 2010. In 2013 the author completed a master study in Linguistics at the Faculty of Cultural Sciences, Universitas Gadjah Mada. Until now, the publications produced are not only focused on micro linguistics, but also macro linguistics which is applied linguistics. Therefore, reflecting on the importance of an applied linguistics research guide, this book has been compiled.
