A satisfying conclusion to a wonderful series. I enjoyed the action and adventure and the zombies of course, but I really liked the emotional development of the characters, especially Mario, who has almost seemed like a cipher in some respects, and a character I thought there was more to (and it turns out I was right!). Miranda finally grows up, and loses the abrasiveness that I found off-putting, even though I loved her. She seems to finally understand that life isn't black and white, but lived in shade of gray. Still in love with Doug & Skye...they have such a fun, sweet love story, and Rocco is hilarious. And the dog is alive at the end! The author never did anything with Brock, which feels like a loose end that could have been tied up. I was curious to find out what havoc he'd create since he was on the loose at the end of book 2, but that was never picked up. Ms. Geever has grown as a writer since the first book in this series. As in Damage in an Undead Age, the plotting is tighter, and the writing more succinct and economical despite the book's length (since I'm a fan, that wasn't a bad thing). I'm looking forward to more from this author.

About the author

Science Fiction author A.M. Geever is known for her action-packed, post-apocalyptic and dystopian adventures--with a dash of romance. An avid reader of science fiction and fantasy from an early age, the only job she ever wanted--besides being a writer--was to be a Star Fleet Officer. She credits her love of all things zombie to her older brothers, whose influence in books, music, and film continues to this day, although her tolerance for puns and movies that are "so bad they're good" is a whole lot lower than theirs. The idea of becoming a zombie because her car runs out of gas gets her to the gas station when she would rather not bother.

Trained as a theologian, her work often explores the role of religious belief in post-apocalyptic/dystopian societies. Her award-winning debut novel, Love in an Undead Age, was released in August 2019, followed by Damage in an Undead Age in 2020, and Reckoning in an Undead Age in 2021. She is developing a second series set in the Undead Age universe.
