I have read this novel on 3 occasions over the last few years to my year 6 class. Each time I read the story I find my students totally engaged and wanting to research many of the experiences encountered by the main characters . Excellent book. I wish there was an accompanying study guide for this novel.

About the author

Nicola Davies studied zoology at Cambridge, and worked with numerous different animals for several years, including humpbacked whales in Newfoundland. She went on to become a writer, producer and presenter of radio and television, including The Really Wild Show. Amongst her many acclaimed books for children are A Girl Called Dog, Rubbish Town Hero, Big Blue Whale, One Tiny Turtle, and Poo which was shortlisted for a Blue Peter Book Award. Her novel Home was shortlisted for the Branford Boase Award. She lives in Wales.
