Perfect for fans of George R.R. Martin’s Game of Thrones series, Glass Sword is the high-stakes follow up to the #1 New York Times bestselling Red Queen.

Mare Barrow's blood is red—the color of common folk—but her Silver ability, the power to control lightning, has turned her into a weapon that the royal court tries to control. The crown calls her an impossibility, a fake, but as she makes her escape from Maven, the prince—the friend—who betrayed her, Mare uncovers something startling: she is not the only one of her kind.

Pursued by Maven, now a vindictive king, Mare sets out to find and recruit other Red-and-Silver fighters to join in the struggle against her oppressors. But Mare finds herself on a deadly path, at risk of becoming exactly the kind of monster she is trying to defeat. Will she shatter under the weight of the lives that are the cost of rebellion? Or have treachery and betrayal hardened her forever?

If you like divergent series. This is just like it but with different twists. I didn't read the first book (this is the 2nd one... Ooppss) so it got my all confused. But the romance is there and the plot does thicken quite a bit. But if you know how book 2 of the divergent series end, the plot is just the same.

At first, I read some comment that wasn't happy with the book, but I happy this second book a try. I was not disappointed. I can't believe Mare got herself in that situation. Her complicated relationship with both brothers is crazy. I feel she likes them both...how can she like Maven is beyond me. Only the writer can articulate that. I love how the author is able to balance teenager emotions about love, lost, maturity, and make hard decisions. Book 3 next.

Ok book but besides the main two characters there's really no character development. For instance Farley and Shade are around throughout the entire story but u never feel like u really get to know them. The heroine whose name is Mare can't seem to get over the king, and throughout the book she constantly agonizing over how he betrayed her even though she only knew him for one whole month.
