FAMILIES CAN BE MURDER
I lean in and whisper the question I have never let myself utter in twenty-three years.
"Dad, did you murder Mum?"

Hannah Davidson has a dementia-stricken father, an estranged TV star brother, and a mother whose suspicious death opened up fault lines beneath the surface of their ordinary family life.
Hannah is disturbed by the uncanny resemblance she now has to her glamorous mother. She begins to exploit this arresting likeness to force the truth into the light, but in doing so is propelled into a fatal standoff she could never have foreseen.

“Families can be murder…” It’s one thing to have lost your mother, have an estranged brother and watch your fathers mind slip away. But, these things become a whole other situation when you have lingering doubt that perhaps it was your father who took your mother away all those years ago. The Daughter is a compelling and dark psychological thriller that had me caught in a web of intrigue, family dysfunction and secrets. I enjoyed unpacking the mystery which at times was quite creepy and had my hackles up! The characters are flawed, believable and each play their role extremely well. I connected with Hannah, a broken soul, who I really felt for more and more as the book progressed and I was just as desperate as she was for answers. As a debut, Webb has done such a stellar job delivering a riveting read and is an exciting new voice in the psychological thriller genre. I really enjoyed the style of storytelling, the writing and I look forward to reading more from her.
