One of the most celebrated thrillers ever written, The Day of the Jackal is the exhilarating story of the struggle to catch a killer before it's too late.

1963. An anonymous Englishman is hired by the Operations Chief of French terrorist organisation O.A.S. to murder the French president, General Charles de Gaulle. A failed attempt in the previous year means the target will be nearly impossible to reach.

Only one man could do the job: an assassin of legendary talent known only as The Jackal.

This remorseless and deadly killer must be stopped. But he is a man without a name, without an identity; a lethal spectre.

How can you stop an assassin nobody can identify? The task falls to the best detective in France - and the price of failure is unthinkable . . .

A gripping thriller from start to finish. Frederick Forsyth's novel, will gain your attention from the first page till the last. An unknown English man, is hired by some who oppose Charles De Gaulle. The English man sets out his terms and conditions on which he will do the job but at a cost. He is not cheap! But soon the French authorities get to know and the chase begins. A well worth reading book that will keep you glued.

A classic thriller from start to finish. Many years ago I watched the movie starring Edward Fox as the Jackal and loved it. A year later I picked up the book and thought Wow this is how a thriller should be written!

one of my 1st thriller read. First bengali translated version, then original english version. while reading this book, its difficult to distinguish if this is fact or fiction. Excellent story line, characters which are real. This is also a fiction which I have read more than twice. A truly masterpiece from the writer!! Sarbendu
