Nine Elms had me at Robert Bryndza! There are very few authors where I want to read their new book just on their name alone and without even seeing what the book is about. Robert is one of these authors for me. It is no secret that I am a massive fan of Robert’s work and I was so excited when I read that he was writing a brand new series. Nine Elms is one brilliant read that will keep you up reading well into the night, so make sure you have nothing else to do when you start this book as you will not be able to tear yourself away from it. You have been warned… This is one dark and twisted read that is perfect for fans of the thriller genre. The first book in this new series, Nine Elms will have you hooked right from the start and it is one that is best not to give any more details on than the tease of the blurb. I will say that Robert doesn’t waste any time in kicking off the story. You know when you get in a car and the driver thinks you are all in and starts to take off with you leg still out, well this is what it felt like for me! I love that in a book and Roberts excels in this technique in all the books I have read of his in this genre. He is the master! Robert has done an amazing job with Kate’s character and just like Erika Foster, Kate kicks some major butt and packs a hell of a punch! She is strong but with a extremely vulnerable side, though not surprising with what she has been through and I absolutely loved her. Tristan is also a charming character that I enjoyed. Him and Kate work extremely well together and I look forward to reading more of him in future books. The Nine Elms serial killer is one of the most despicable characters that I have read, but has been written frightening well as the perfect villain and his methods are definitely what nightmares are made of! He still gives me chills when I think about this book. Robert has a very easy writing style that just captivates and engages you. When I read a book of Robert’s I just clear my mind and let him take me on the journey without trying to guess what is to come and how it could all unfold. His words just flow so well and each chapter becomes more intense than the last. Robert is definitely a pro at building the tension throughout and on more than one occasion had me gasping out loud and my heart pounding. If you have not read any of Robert’s books in the past you are definitely missing out! Nine Elms is the perfect one to start with which will then have you racing to buy all of his other books. With Nine Elms, I can not recommend this book highly enough and I think it is one of Robert’s best yet! I will be waiting very impatiently for the next book in this series. It was an absolute pleasure to be able to read and review Nine Elms. Thank-you to NetGalley, Sphere Books and Robert Bryndza for allowing me to read an advanced copy of Nine Elms which I have reviewed honestly and voluntarily.

Nine Elms by Robert Bryndza A Kate Marshall Thriller #1 Brilliant! This book is not a quick read but it flew by as every word carried the weight of this story. From the beginning through till the end this book had me on tenterhooks waiting to see what would happen next. Enthralling read and an excellent introduction to what, going by this book, will be a series I will not want to miss one book of. What I liked: * Kate: flawed, smart, tenacious, willing to do what it takes – I like her, felt sorry for her at points and truly admired her, too. * Tristan: her assistant is a young man with a future – though untried I found him open, caring, wise, young and endearing – I want to know more about him * Jake: Kate’s son – he is not formed yet and as the series goes on I can see any number of things happening in his life * The other people like Kate’s parents and neighbor – can see them taking part in future books * That Kate is not a young thing * That this is not really a cozy mystery or a police procedural as Kate is not on the police force but it is a murder mystery of a cold case that ties into current murders, too. * The idea put forth that Kate and Tristan might have a side business as private investigators – wonder if they will leave academia or stay in it – will they get licenses or are they even needed in England? What I did not like: * The four sicko psychos that were mentioned in this story – I detested them and wished a horrible fate for them. * Kate’s AA affiliation – it seems that every PI, police person, solver of cases seems to end up with an alcohol problem and though that may be true I would kind of like to see someone that does not have a dependency problem * The reminder that there is so much evil in the world – that humans have so little regard for the lives of others. Did I enjoy this book? Yes Would I read more in this series? As soon as possible, please Thank you to NetGalley and Tomas & Mercer for the ARC – This is my honest review. 5 Stars

I loved this book. One of the main things I always love about Robert Bryndza's books is the incredibly descriptive way he writes. There is so much detail I genuinely feel like I am part of the story. It's really special, and this book was no different. I loved the Erika Foster Series and was so excited to hear that he had a new series coming out. Kate Marshall it turns out, is just as awesome as Erika, she's a strong, fearless character, described so fantastically, I feel I know her already. I can't wait to read more of her stories!!! The book itself goes into the background of Kate, she had been a detective in the Metropolitan Police, chasing down a serial killer, until one day he comes after her. After living a quiet suburban life for the best part of 20 years, suddenly the past comes back to haunt her, and the murderer she once knew comes back with a vengeance. Can Kate stop him before he destroys her? This is an awesome book with dark and gritty scenes, some of which made me bury deeper under the covers! There are some truly disturbing characters! I've genuinely never liked books this dark before but Robert is my absolute favourite author and am glued to everything he writes. I highly recommend you give it a try. I'm already about to give it a 2nd read it was that good. I truly loved it. Thank you to Netgalley, Little Brown Book Group and Robert Bryndza for the advance copy to review.
