Now a major BBC drama: The Strike series

When a troubled model falls to her death from a snow-covered Mayfair balcony, it is assumed that she has committed suicide. However, her brother has his doubts, and calls in private investigator Cormoran Strike to look into the case.

Strike is a war veteran - wounded both physically and psychologically - and his life is in disarray. The case gives him a financial lifeline, but it comes at a personal cost: the more he delves into the young model's complex world, the darker things get - and the closer he gets to terrible danger . . .

A gripping, elegant mystery steeped in the atmosphere of London - from the hushed streets of Mayfair to the backstreet pubs of the East End to the bustle of Soho - The Cuckoo's Calling is a remarkable book. Introducing Cormoran Strike, this is the acclaimed first crime novel by J.K. Rowling, writing under the pseudonym Robert Galbraith.

*** The latest book in the thrilling Strike series, TROUBLED BLOOD, is out now! ***

This women is a genius. Great characters, great story, nice twists here and there all done in true, put down pick up again, jk Rowling style. This book got deservedly good reviews before the jk Rowling link, now I read all the bad review cause of the author, not the book, even some reviews suggesting she exposed authorship due to money/sales (as if, any money made these days goes to charity) Very good read, can't wait till book 2 More books jk, you wipe the floor with most of the competition.

I just can't be bothered to read any more of this very weak book. The names of the characters are like something out of a combination of a 1930s comic book and a spoof film that Bruce Willis might star in. I could live with that but the writing is weak and I have no interest in what happens next or what the conclusion might be. Very disappointing.

I love J.K Rowling and I am glad she has moven away from good ol' Hogwarts. I would give it five stars if Robbin and Strike fell inlove because I am generally a hopeless romantic and I just wished and hoped that at some point Robbin would get rid of that boring accountant and let something strong and infinite blossom between the two and perhaps it could happen in the second book please! But otherwise great story and wonderful mystery! I loved it absolutely recommend it!
