"Past Tense," a novel by Lee Child, is an exciting and intense thriller that follows Jack Reacher on his journey to a small New Hampshire town. The story is full of suspense, action, and twists that keep you enthralled and captivated until the very end. The book's setting, an eerie and abandoned town, is brought to life with vivid descriptions, making it a character in its own right. The well-formed characters, including Jack Reacher, are multidimensional with unique personalities that complement the plot. Child's writing is excellent with a talent for scene descriptions and character dialogue. Highly recommended for fans of the series and new readers alike.

I must admit she is one of a kind.... The magic carpet is very very dirty and needs replacing as its falling apart.... Using her deceased father as a chess piece god bless his soul for her life of lies to make sense to everyone... She will use you cheat you deceive you manipulate and lie about every single thing in her life... Addiction crisis with every substance pleasure giving matter.. Ice and pot and prescribed medication used by the ounce no longer working... The long nights of being raped and abused at least 3 times everynight treated like an animal now is no longer human in any sense. Pain is pleasure now but the pale faced look of utter remorse and guilt is settling her everyday features.... A slave to herself once again after feeling living breathing true love she could not be true to her once in a ilifetime companion and own self respect love trust lost in a fake phony dissatisfying life.... Mentally sick from sick fetishes abuse of all people everyday over n over especially loved ones over ran now by guilt anxiety depression that is getting more stronger each sleep less night seen by a distant fake smile that only lasts 1 second true colours shinning through.....

I don't quite understand what's happened to this series in the last 7-8 years. It went from every book being gripping and full of those atmospheric moments where you felt right in the heart of the locations and story, to suddenly finding things slow, plodding, uninteresting and lacking any intrigue. I really hope this isn't the end. For me, the following titles (in no particular order) have that winning formula and I love each of them because they get it right. If anyone can put their finger on why and how they're different please say! Killing Floor The Enemy Persuader The Hard Way Bad Luck & Trouble One Shot Worth Dying For In my opinion, A Wanted Man is perhaps the worst. A Wanted Man spends almost the entire book with Reacher in a car thinking that something is odd before a rushed ending. I've just finished Past Tense and thought for a while it was getting back to basics and was enjoying it, until the two random stories came together rushedly with a dissatisfying ending. Gutted
