This is one of those books that is so much more than the sum of its parts. It follows the age-old formula for any fantasy novel - elves and dwarves, magic and conspiracy - but you will still find yourself saying "Just a couple more pages" at 2am, because Sullivan has the uncanny ability to answer just enough questions, and leave just enough open, to always leave you desperate for more. Honestly, it is worth reading these books just to witness Royce and Hadrian's epic bromance. You can't not love these two!

This series took me a while to become invested in the story and characters but I stuck with it and I am glad I did. By the end I felt for the characters and wished for particularly painful punishment for the evil characters. Perhaps a little restrained at times but still a great adventure worth the read!

Hard to put down, fantastic writing, love the characters, totally unpredictable plot, I bought paperback but had to give a review here if you're a GOT fan this book is for you.

Born in Detroit, Michigan, Michael J. Sullivan has lived in Vermont, North Carolina and Virginia. He worked as a commercial artist and illustrator, founding his own advertising agency in 1996, which he closed in 2005 to pursue writing full time.
