Breaking the Rules

4.5 stars Where do I even begin, part of the story struck a chord with me as a Mum, I could definitely identify and sympathise with Becca. Breaking the Rules is another part of Owen and Becca’s story and it certainly didn’t disappoint. I wholeheartedly felt like I just wanted to wrap Becca in a hug. I felt quite a few emotions and loved how their story has progressed further. It was really a wonderful read! After this is Prestons story and it didn’t disappoint either. What a kind, caring man. He’s really trying with Essie and I think he just wants a love he is worthy of. These books made my heart happy as I feel like the Hot Jock characters have found a place in my heart forever and I genuinely need to know how they are doing. What a fantastic novella and a perfect addition to the series.

Kendall Ryan does a great job with BREAKING THE RULES (Hot Jocks #8). The novella starts out with Becca and Owen from ALL THE WAY (Hot Jocks #2). BREAKING THE RULES takes place eight years later. Becca and Owen Parrish are now married with three kids and one on the way. Owen is thirty-five and recovering from an injury. His career as an NHL goalie with the Seattle Ice Hawks is uncertain. We also hear from Qwen’s little sister Elise, who is married to Justin Brady (PLAYING FOR KEEPS, Hot Jocks #1); Ana and Grant Henry (WILD FOR YOU, Hot Jocks #6); Harper and Jordie (TAKING HIS SHOT, Hot Jocks #7). Plus, we meet the new rookie, Preston. BREAKING THE RULES is a realistic and heartfelt update on the Seattle Ice Hawks. It is an entertaining and quick read. I recommend this story to followers of the series. I voluntarily reviewed an advance reader copy of this book.

The first part is like playing catch-up. Owen and Becca mostly and how they cope with 3 children under the age of 6. Life as a professional hockey player and Becca caring for all of them. It’s a lot of work and sometimes hard to balance time and everything but so worth everything that they have to deal with. Also seeing other players, Grant, Jordie, and Justin and their wives and what they are up to. The second part we have Preston and Essie. She is afraid to get into a relationship with Preston because of her last relationship. They might be roommates but as time goes by Preston wants more. I understood where she was coming from but sometimes you have to take a chance. What happens if she decides to take a chance with Preston. Only time will tell and you never have to ask yourself what if. You can never know until you try.
