Marian was born to parents who were interested in a wide range of things, especially the development of human potential. Exposed to interesting people having interesting discussions on this topic from a tender age, she grew up thinking that everyone had such discussions and such fascinating visitors at home. She had a shock when she moved away from home for the first time. University life was some sort of transition since study and thinking were at least tangentially involved. Out in the wide world, she sometimes felt like an alien. She studied psychology, biology, and English literature, but then struck off on an adventure of learning. Marian traveled and studied with friends of her parents and friends of their friends, for an eclectic education all aimed toward discovering and developing the potential of which she felt sure human beings were capable. From the age of 21 she was using regression work (hypnosis and other methods) in pursuit of the goal to relieve people of the sufferings that seemed to block them from full use of their abilities. In 1984, she met Frank A. Gerbode, M.D. through mutual friends and was immediately drawn to the subject of TIR that he was in the process of developing and to the group of interested seekers he had working with him. It felt like home. Since that time, Marian has worked extensively with Dr. Gerbode in the development of new techniques and in writing and editing new training materials for practitioners of TIR and Metapsychology. In 1997, Marian documented her extensive training and experience in the field of trauma resolution and gained her Certified Trauma Specialist (CTS) from the Association for Traumatic Stress Specialists (ATSS). She has presented on various TIR and Metapsychology-related topics at many conferences since then, including ATSS annual conferences. She has been in private practice for nearly all of the past 36 years. She travels extensively doing professional training in the US, Canada, and Europe. Her interests include: quality of life, gardening, travel, cooking, reading, telepathy, inter-species communication, and the nature of consciousness. She is married to author and publisher Victor R. Volkman and has one grown child, Stephanie. She has a work of fiction in publication: Turtle Dolphin Dreams (2005) and has four more books "in the works" from Loving Healing Press (www.LovingHealing.com).
