About this ebook

What if we shared planet Earth with other intelligent species?

What if inter-species communication were really possible?

Seek out some answers in Turtle Dolphin Dreams

An extremely unusual work of fiction in which three creatures, a turtle, a dolphin and a human link minds through dreams to bring a unique perception of the world. Most of the narration is by the Turtle, via the human and Dolphin's voice comes through both turtle and human, yet somehow this strange book hangs together and holds the reader's attention.

Turtle wonders why humans identify so closely with our family and friends that their every action affects us, perhaps bringing deep joy or deep pain. Turtles view each life as an egg - overlapping and separate. They have developed the ability to link thoughts with others of their kind during the dream state of the annual hibernation. Somehow they recognise family and friend with whom they have no real contact during the wakeful summer, other than the brief mating season. Eggs are laid and left to hatch alone. The parents have no contact with the hatchlings until they mature and begin their first hibernation, when the dreaming begins.

Dolphin cannot understand why adult humans are so serious while their children play. For dolphins it is the other way around. Youth is for learning everything needed for survival. Adulthood brings expertise, strength and time to play.

"A pearl is a small thing, and yet it is as precious as any jewel. So is this little book." --Robert Rich, Ph.D.

"Turtle Dolphin Dreams is a wonderful little book. Not since Gibran's The Prophet or Bach's Jonathan Livingston Seagull has a book come along so inviting, refreshing, and relevant." --James Clifton, Ph.D.

"Turtle Dolphin Dreams is a lovely book with much food for thought. Very inspirational indeed." Susan M. Phillips, Spiralthreads Reviews

Turtle Dolphin Dreams written by Marian K Volkman is a thought-provoking tale, told by a beautiful creature named Turtledove. What would it be like to communicate with other species on our planet? In Turtle Dolphin Dreams we have the opportunity to experience communication on a metaphysical level. Turtle Dolphin Dreams is told through the eyes of a turtle named Turtledove. Turtledove is our communication link between humans, turtles and dolphins in a dreamlike state of consciousness. Turtledove, is our liaison between the aquatic and land world. Turtles can relate to both species due to their ability to walk on land and swim in water. Dreamtime is shared when turtles are in hibernation; this is when they can connect with a specific group of dolphins. We as humans are invited into this dreamtime world to communicate. Humans are not all that different from the dolphin species. We share family units, food sources, mourn loss, raise and protect our young, feel pleasure and pain and most importantly share the same planet. Often we don’t think about how our actions affect other species. Turtledove shares communication between our two interconnected worlds. Turtledove helps us to realize that we are not all that different. What attracted me to this book is that it’s fiction; new age genre reads like a non-fiction book. Marian K. Volkman gives us the unique opportunity to interact with other species and enlighten us to the possibilities of connecting on a different level. I would highly recommend this book to older children and adults. It is a great experience of thought provoking, literature. A favorite quote from Turtle Dolphin dreams sums it all up…“We are, each and all, interconnected with every living thing on this planet.”

About the author

Marian grew up in a family who were oriented toward personal growth, human potential, and spiritual evolution. She always thought that animal were more intelligent (and spiritual) than they were given credit for. She went studied biology and psychology in college. Not finding what she was looking for there (though loving the study of biology), she went off on a long period of self-directed study and exploration. She has been working in the field of personal growth, trauma resolution and human potential all of her adult life. In the early 1980s she discovered Applied Metapsychology, developed by Frank A. Gerbode, M.D., and has been using its methods and techniques in her work since then. Her interest in animals has never waned, though her career path ended up to be in another direction. She has read widely and paid attention to what animals have taught her. She sees the gradually increasing awareness of human beings of the alive-ness and value of other life forms to be part of the huge spiritual evolutionary shift that is taking place now.
