This is the first in Greenwood's new series The Vampire Detective. Lucy is a fun, captivating main character - vampire and PI. I loved the humor and poor William punished to 100 years for being a year late...but I love that she loves him and knows they will be together, but past relationships emerge and may cloud the clarity of her feelings. Ends on a bit of a cliffhanger which for me if super frustrating but thankfully I have books 2 and 3 all queued up and ready to read! I can't wait to see what will be next in Lucy's adventures with her PI cases as well as her relationships! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Laura Greenwood and Arizona Tape have given us 'Fangs for Nothing', the first book in the "Vampire Detective" series. To be honest, I wasn't sure what to expect from this one but after a bit, I realized this is just a fun, rather light-hearted, reverse romance with a bit of mystery to solve. Between the character's quirky personalities and the bit of intrigue, it was a great escape for a few hours.

From the title, Fangs For Nothing (The Vampire Detective #1), I expected the story to be a detective, thriller, suspense with some paranormal/supernatural action kind of story. It is not. The detective part seems to be just something the main female character, Lucy, does to occupy her time. Most of her cases are sent to her by her fiance, William, who she is estranged from and has been for 100 years. They are vampires, so time is a bit relative. The story has some witty elements, but all in all, it seems to be geared toward teens rather than adults or young adults. Then again, it does have some adult themes, so it may not be appropriate for teens. I am not sure what audience the book captures, and it wasn't easy to stay engaged. For these reasons, I could not rate the book higher. There is little to no suspense in the storyline and no great mysteries to solve. There is romance but from an angsty perspective. The characters are fun and likable. I will read the other two books in the series and see where this goes. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
