About this ebook

Never stop moving. Never look back. And never gamble with your heart…

Jeremy Wilcox hasn’t had a ping on his orphan witch–hunting computer system for two, tomb-quiet months. Until he learns of a woman with a gift for disguises — and an uncanny ability to beat the house.

Sloane Kennedy lives by one cardinal rule: Never stop moving. It’s the only way she knows to survive. It’s not exactly cheating — after all, tuning into and out of people’s heads is a survival mechanism. So is the spider sense that tells her the cute guy at Twin Arrows casino is watching her.

When said cute guy rescues her from an unknown assailant, it turns out he knows way more about her than he should. Like that she’s adopted…and a few things she didn’t. She’s a witch, and somewhere, she has family.

As Sloane learns more about her heritage, her relationship with Jeremy grows from shy kisses into a longing for something more. Roots, a home, love. But reconnecting with her birth family is no dream. It’s a nightmare that could rip her from Jeremy’s arms…and sweep her up in a mad plan to control all witches. Everywhere.

Christine Pope again satisfies her readers with another great story. Mind Games is the fourth book in the Witches of Wheeler Park series and like the previous books in the series does a great job of mixing characters from those books with the introduction of Sloane Kennedy and the development of Jeremy Wilcox. I enjoyed reading Jeremy’s growth from computer nerd to “field” agent and his romance with Sloane. Sloane was also a great character dealing with learning about her “witch gift” and family origins. Pope does a masterful job with the evil witch grandma too. I am so looking forward to the next book in the series. I thank the author for the opportunity to given an ARC in return for an honest review.

How does she do it? Book after book, Christine Pope masterfully weaves a story that keeps you turning the pages well into the night! She artfully comingles characters and clans from past books with her always new and fresh characters in her current story. Sloane Kennedy, an orphan witch, has a powerful gift that has set her apart preventing her from belonging and, yet has provided her with the means of financially supporting herself. However, she must not hang around in one place very long for fear of being recognized. Jeremy discovers Sloane when doing a favor for a friend, watching her uncanny ability to win at the casino where his friend is employed. Jeremy is not the only one noticing her powers! Not knowing she is a witch, but desperately wanting to learn about her biological parents and why her mother gave her up for adoption to a Mormon couple in Utah, sets the stage for this hair-raising paranormal romance. From Flagstaff to Montana and South Dakota, Sloane’s journey to discovery is another example of Pope’s compelling stories. This is the fourth book in the awesome Wheeler Park Series. Although it can stand alone, have read the pervious three allows you to enjoy the humor when Lenze delivers a pizza to Jeremy. (LOL)

In Mind Games, Book 4 of The Witches of Wheeler Park, we progress with the Wilcox Clan Orphan Witch Hunt, and find warlock computer hacker Jeremy Wilcox coming across a witch that has a mysterious knack to constantly win at casinos. As a favor for a friend, who works in one of the casinos, Jeremy decides to check out this person. Sloane Kennedy moves about from casino to casino disguising herself to prevent recognition. However, she is totally unaware that she is a witch. When Jeremy steps in and rescues Sloane from an assailant it gives way for Sloane to learn much more about herself and where she came from. The relationship between them grows as they travel to seek answers which leads to a world of nightmares. This 4th book of The Witches of Wheeler Park is fantastic and the storyline gets better as it continues with the Wilcox’s plan to make sure orphan witches/warlock are found and enlighten as to what they truly are. I recommend this book highly and all the previous books in the series.
