Catalina (Cat) Castillo’s story in Christine Pope’s “Demon Born” (The Witches of Canyon Road Book 5) was totally ethereal. The Demon, Lord of Chaos (aka “Loc”), who had previously helped the Castillos defeat Simon Escobar kept sensing a need to meet with Cat again. When he appeared to her in his Demon form, Cat was surprised but not afraid. They began a quest to find a way for Loc to return to his home plane. What resulted instead was a relationship and a love affair that neither one could deny. Surprises abound in this fifth book of the series. A dark Warlock with treacherous spells and abysmal witchery along with various ghosts’ scenarios. I found myself drawn in by the twists and turns throughout. Loving this series and the way Christine Pope makes you feel as though you are really there. You can read this book as a standalone, but it'll be so much better to check out the entire series as this is a sustained saga of the Castillo Clan.

This is by far my favorite book in the Witches of Canyon Road series. The relationship development between Loc, (Lord of Chaos) and Catalina Castillo was very well written and seemed realistic. Well, as realistic as a relationship between the lord of another realm/world and a witch hiding in plain site can be. Christine Pope does a good job with character growth both individually and as a couple. The book also had a good mix of previous characters in the series, evil plot line and introducing readers to other witch clans and their territories. I think this is definitely a book where you need to read in series order but it was a very satisfying read. I thank Ms Pope for the opportunity to read an ARC in exchange for an honest review. Looking forward to more in the series.

Want adventure, action, and romance? Well, look no further than Demon Born. This is the fifth book in The Witches of Canyon Road series. I have read many of Christine Pope’s books and read all of this series, so far, this is one of my favorites. We follow Cat, Rafe’s sister, instead of Rafe and Miranda as we had for the first four books. It was nice to get a change of perspective within the Castillo Clan. While, I enjoyed Rafe and Miranda’s story, I always wanted to know a little more about Cat and her magical abilities. We get a better understanding and insight throughout the story. We see Cat and Loc (Lord of Chaos), get to know one another better, as they travel and work together. As always, Pope has expanded the Cleopatra Hill/Canyon Road universe. With Cat and Loc, making a brief visit to New Orleans, we get a glimpse of the local clan. I would love to learn a bit more about the NOLA clan but maybe for another book. It was a wonderful read and great way to kick off the New Year. I did receive an ARC.
