About this ebook

The cards never lie…and this time, the truth is deadly.

Four months into being a not-so-platonic couple, Selena Marx and Calvin Standingbear are getting into the spirit of Halloween in Globe, Arizona, complete with elaborate costumes. Selena’s even agreed — a bit hesitantly — to do a limited number of Tarot readings for her best friend Josie’s blowout Halloween bash.

The party is going spookily well…until Selena’s reading for high school principal Danny Ortega. The cards don’t hold back about his less-than-savory dalliances, predicting that karma won’t be kind. In fact, karma strikes back before the party’s even over — as Danny drops dead.

When Danny’s ghost asks Selena to uncover who killed him, she has no choice but to dig through his rather checkered romantic past for clues. All while taking the next step in her and Calvin’s relationship — meeting his parents.

And if that’s not enough to make Selena want to dive head-first into a bowl full of Halloween chocolate, discovering the heartbreaking truth behind Danny’s death might be the final blow….

Halloween is in the air and Perpetual Potion, Book 4 of Hedgewitch for Hire series, continues with Selena Marx, Globe, AZ Hedgewitch, and the way she solves the murder of one of the town’s citizen. It also follows the developing romance between Selena and Calvin Standingbear, the hunky Chief of the San Ramon Apache Tribal Police. After several months of their relationship, Calvin’s parents want to meet her. Yet, even a Hedgewitch can get nervous when you have to meet “The Parents”. I totally recommend reading this book along with the rest in the series. The series is absolutely phenomenal.

This is the latest book in the Hedgewitch for Hire series by Christine Pope. It follows Selena and Calvin as their romance continues with family dissent from Calvin’s side and murder/hauntings that Selena brings to the table. The secondary characters are both highly annoying in some cases and entertainingly annoying in others. Selena has her work cut out for her dealing with the hauntings both of the human and feline variety, luckily she is most patient. Looking forward to the next book in the series.

This is an easy-going, pleasant murder investigation with several unexpected twists that keep the suspense up until the final pages. There is minimal violence but lots of suspense, mild relationship tension, and a disappointing meeting with potential parents-in-law. It's a week before Halloween and Selena has been living in Globe, AZ for seven months now. Her shop, Once in a Blue Moon, has become mostly accepted, if not a fixture in the town. Calvin and Selena are still a "thing", and the inevitable meeting with his parents did not go well. The mystery of who killed Danny permeates the story, with almost no clues and over a hundred suspects. Even Chief Lewis and the town gossip know-it-all are stumped. The few clues are enough, when combined with Selena's skills, to ferret out the murderer. It's a surprise to everyone who committed the murder and why. Archie remains in his snarky, cursed cat form, to his disappointment.
