We don't pay nearly the attention that we should to our men and women protecting this country and sadly enough we pay less attention to the K-9s who are trying to keep them safe. So it's more than heartwarming to read about the dedication of those trying to protect these canines in their retirement. In this story Tucker heads to Florida to his sister's wedding and while there will check up on Bernadette who is a retired K-9 scheduled for euthanasia because she is considered dangerous. Tucker runs into Addie who is also on the K-9's side even though it was her sister (Bernie) who is claiming to have been bitten by Bernie the dog. Meanwhile Tucker's soon to be 'brother-in-law' is having trouble with fires being set at his constructions site and Bernie (K-9) is trained for fire sniffing for various accelerants. Lots of family dynamics, some good, some pretty dramatic are played out in this story. More honor, trust and love are covered too. Great characters, great reading as well.

This is book thirteen in the wonderful K9 series. Just when Badger thought that all the missing war dogs had been traced, more files were passed onto him. Tucker Wilson's life had hung in the balance after being caught in friendly fire, his injuries were life changing and he hadn't allowed his only relative, his younger sister Molly to visit. he needed to be on his own to heal both physically and mentally. Tucker, now healed, was now heading to Miami to see Molly marry his buddy Rodney but Badger had a task for him whilst he was in the area. News had filtered through that a war dog, Bernie, was to be put to death in two days for biting the daughter of the family that had adopted her, war dogs were well trained and Tucker doubted that this was true and he would do anything in his power to prove it. Tucker's surprising help came from the sister of the allegedly bitten girl, nurse Addie Rotenheim, who didn't believe her sister. Bernie Rotenheim was a selfish, psychotic, cruel, thoroughly spoiled brat, she had persuaded her ever indulgent parents to adopt the war dog simply because they had the same name. This story follows the fight of two sisters, one to have the wonderful war dog killed by lying about her and the second sister doing everything in her power to help Tucker save her, also the blossoming romance between Addie and Tucker.

TW//CW animal abuse, arson, death, murder I really adore this series. A series about saving war dogs, what's not to love right? This latest book is definitely one of my fav from this series. A rescue mission for a war dog that's going to be put down. Rescuing a wrongly accused innocent animal, yes I knew it's going to be a wonderful read and as an animal lover especially dogs, the story really captivating from the beginning, the effort to save Bernie the wonderful war dog and to bring justice to people who abused her is good and add those sweet adorable romance between Tucker and Addie, well it's kinda insta-love but it tooks some times so it's not insta-love per se if that makes sense but still it's cute and sweet. There's also a tiny bit family story that also heartwarming. So yeah it's a light romantic suspense story. Although there were still unanswered questions for the side case and some parts that I think a bit unbelievable, overall it's still an enjoyable and entertaining.
