This is the 25th book in the Seals of Honour series, each one as good as the last. Although it is a standalone story, having read the previous ones it was like meeting up with old friends. Axel Salisbury had just returned from a gruelling mission with his navy SEAL leader, Mason but he wasn't to get the rest that he was expecting. A submarine was trapped on the ocean bed with 12 crew members, eleven men and one woman, on board. It was a smaller top secret sub and was undergoing tests when there was query an on board explosion. What Axel and the team found when they were able to enter the sub was much more sinister, eleven men dead with bullet holes in them and one woman, Dr. Ally Minga, hiding in the ventilation shaft with three gunshot wounds, one badly shattering her femur. Ally had been testing the sub's navigational system and rectifying faults when the shootings occurred, all she could tell them was that it was not a crew member, someone else must have been hiding on board, and a sketchy outline of his body shape. As the story unfolds it becomes clear that Ally is being set up as the main suspect but Axel and the team were out to prove her innocence.....someone wanted Ally dead but who and why ? This is an action packed story, suspenseful and with loads of suspects, even dead ones and of course a blossoming romance between Ally and Axel, Mason's cupid has shot his arrow again. This one kicks off with intrigue, danger and mystery right from the get go and you are trying to work out who is behind the deaths in the sub as well as why and what could Ally have to do with it. Ally's drive to know why she is being targeted and the way she is treated by the Military has you wanting to make Axel work harder to find out what's going on, throw in the the potential link from Ally's past and how Axel wants to protect her and you get one hell of a read! I miss Mason's crew, so this book is definitely what I'm waiting for and this book totally delivered. It was started with rescue mission that turns to something terrifying with many dead bodies, then everything getting more complicated with danger in every corner and lots of actions and mystery, and spiced up with the sparks between Axel and Ally, love how persistent and protective Axel towards Ally, yup it has a perfect amount of actions and romance, this one is easily to finish in just one sitting. It's a fast-paced page-turner suspense romance read, totally recommended.
