About this eBook

Traveling to China to retrieve a kidnapped scientist shows Diesel the depths of human depravity. Not that he needs more proof. He’s been doing this type of work for a decade. This is the first time though the person he was rescuing was this interesting.

Eva Langston had been kidnapped while walking across the street and then locked up in a lab half a world away. Joining two other scientists, both letting her know there was no escape, she refuses to give up hope. When the rescue does come, it wasn’t smooth or easy.

Still she was damn glad to be free. Until she realizes that freedom is a long way off, as, one by one, her science team is picked off, leaving her the last one to be dealt with.

Book 13, wow! Mavericks are on a roll and this one is Diesels run. HIs back up is Jericho. I have to say I enjoyed this one, it was more natural instead of the trade mark teasing of meeting their partner. This one was intense, Diesel goes to rescue the scientist, Eva being held in China. If that's not a challenge enough, when they arrive they find 2 more people to rescue. The trek to freedom is fraught with turns, surprises and loss. A quick read that entertains and has a HEA. Thank you for the arc. I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.

A light suspense romance read but this one has more sweetness in it, love the sparks between Diesel and Eva. It's a complicated rescue mission, it's like the bad guys always can catch them up, always one step ahead. The journey to bring the victim back to US soil is dangerous, I'm waiting something bad to happen in every page, expecting an attack in each corner. That what makes this book is a page-turner. Although there's more sweetness then actions, I still enjoyed it. Although I felt like it's missing the camaraderie between Diesel and Jericho, it's like they don't know each other well, still enjoyed it. If you're looking for a light suspense romance read, go for this one.

Things look pretty dicey when Diesel and Jericho first arrive and attempt their rescue not only because they don't know exactly where Ava is but also it appears they aren't the only ones after the scientists her are being help captive. I loved how Eva speaks her mind and is a straight shooter so you know exactly what's on her mind but gets on with it if she knows it is a means to an end like doing as Diesel and Jericho say as they are her best bet at freedom. This read has plenty of tense times where the bad guys seem to be a step ahead but you don't know how and feel like they will never get to freedom as well as some light hearted and fun moments as well as an attraction that build up to the point it can't be ignored and all of this makes for a fantastic read that sucks you in from the get go. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
