About this ebook

He's fighting the silence; she's painting his world with color again.

Zane

Battled, broken, and branded by war, I came to Oakside seeking refuge, not redemption.

The blast took my hearing and tossed my world into silence.

Now I’m a grizzled former Navy SEAL battling with my demons and the silence of my world, until I stumble upon Carlee.

Despite the years and experiences that separate us, she looks at me and sees a man, not a collection of scars and stories.

But with my past and her dreams of a future, I'm not convinced I can it give to her.

Carlee

Art is my refuge, my way of speaking when words fail me.

Oakside is supposed to be just another step in building my dream.

Helping Zane find his way back to himself wasn't in my plans, despite the shadows that linger in his eyes, I see the possibility of a future together.

Until I get the phone call that says I'm the sole guardian of my six year old niece.

Now I’m thrust into a life he’s made clear he doesn’t want.

This is Zane and Carlee’s story, and it was well written and entertaining. They meet at Oakside when former Navy Seal Zane, after loses his hearing in combat comes to help him transition back into civilian life. Carlee is working as an art therapist at the rehabilitation facility after surviving a car accident. Zane is learning to communicate using ASL and as they get to know one another a strong bond is formed. When tragedy strikes Carlee’s family, Zane steps up to help.

Saving Zane is book 8 in the Oakside Military Heroes series by Kaci Rose, up next is Zane and Carlee. 4.5 stars After Zane lost his hearing on his last mission, he comes to Oakside for more healing and to discover what his life will be outside the military. When he meets Carlee sitting on the grass drawing, he’s drawn to her like a bee to honey. Both feel the pull but neither are looking for more until a tragedy strikes and things change…age gap, guardian, family disapproval, new reality,

I love my visits to Oakside and this time we get to meet local artist Carlee who is helping patients at Oakside and Navy Seal Zane who is at Oakside for rehabilitation after losing his hearing. The two have an instant connection and as they spend time together they realise they could have something more than friendship. Carlee is the woman you instantly love, she is kind, caring and has an amazing bond with niece that only got stronger as the story goes on.
