I like the story Nolan created because it pulls me in from the beginning. The plot is intriguing because I want to know how Griffin would do to win Sam over and I think Nolan's idea to create a mysterious event to put Griff and Sam together is quite genius. I can feel Sam's heartache after Griff left her so when they meet again, she puts a wall around her heart. I like that Griff is determined to win Sam back and he would do anything to prove it to her that this time he means to stay. I like their relationships with their friends and families. All of those make me feel heartwarming and they're all quite entertaining. Both Griff and Sam have come a long way from their high school time. They are still opposites attraction but Griff is ready for Sam and she is stronger than before. I can't put it down and I finish reading it too early for my liking but I love every minutes I spend reading it.

Samantha (Sam) and Griffin (Griff) have known each other since childhood. Sam is the person who helped Griff get into the Marines rather than go to jail. They meet again in Vegas and have a short reunion. This story starts eight years later with a weekend get-together before the wedding of friends. Eight years for both to have to deal with their last meeting. Sam’s friend who is also a member of the wedding party has not been reachable. And Griff wants to try to repair the mistakes he made eight years ago. Well-written, sweet, steamy story. Lots of emotions. Wonderful story. Can be read independently from the other books in the series. I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

Second chances. Sigh! Sometimes we just don't get it right the first time around, and we need another chance to do better, to be better. Griff thought that was what he was doing when he left all those years ago. Instead, he left a legacy of pain and distrust in his wake. Now, in order to keep the peace at a “family” wedding they’re both involved in, Griff and Sam have to face what happened so long ago and attempt to move forward. My heart was a bleeding broken mess after the prequel for these two. I needed their second chance as badly as they did. I didn't entirely understand the search for the friend who had gone MIA, but it gave them a lot of time together to work through everything that had gone wrong. And even though it blows up exactly as I was afraid it would, Griffin Powell is a master of grand gestures. The ending is perfect and everything I was hoping it would be.
