Katy Evans just practically nailed it. I loved her 6th and final installment of the REAL series. It’s hard to say goodbye to the characters we have loved and rooted for since we started Real, but her goodbye was beautiful enough that it was sort-of bittersweet for me. Maverick “The Avenger” Cage wanted to fight. He wanted to win, to become a legend, to be someone other than his father’s son. But no one would give him the time of the day – especially with the tattoo on his back that already marked him as trouble. He wanted to face the Underground’s champ, Riptide, but first, he needed to enter the fighting circuit. Our girl is new in town, and she’s trying to find herself. The moment they met – sparks flew. But problem is – she’s the cousin of Remington Tate’s wife. Someone he should stay away from and shouldn’t be involved with. But our boy knew how to fight, and he will fight for the one he wants – even if it’s almost impossible, even if she was way beyond his reach. Because this girl – was everything he ever wanted. I love Reese – she’s careful, after what she has been through, it’s understandable. She’s trying to find herself, and didn’t expect to find Maverick along the way. What she went through – surprised the heck out of me. But it didn’t make me think of her less. This is a strong woman who had faced her demons, fought against them and won. She’s one amazing woman. No wonder Maverick is crazy about her. This was pretty much intense, perhaps because both of our characters prefer silence and their thoughts were pretty much powerful. Our characters are complex, strong and passionate with everything they do. When they have a goal in mind, they do everything to achieve it – whether its love or its about the fighting. I love the ending – which pretty much caught me off guard, and yet felt real. Yes, it wouldn’t have been real if it was a draw, someone should win, and Katy, it was a fight so beautifully choreographed and directed that I wasn’t sure who’d win, and who’d lose. But I guess, Katy made the right decision when she chose the winner. It was something we all have been waiting for – and THAT moment, THAT chapter, THAT paragraph gave me all the feels. Surprising friendships developed, interesting twists and turns of events, romantic and steamy love affair makes this one a REAL page-turner and something you wouldn’t let go of until you are done reading. Katy Evans made one heck of a book that would make you swoon and weak-on –the-knees.

Reese and Maverick have personal issues that are so understandable and relatable. This is a journey of self-discovery for them. They need to find their places in this world. Both are decent and good. The sweetness of this story was surprising for me. Maverick is a big, tough fighter with much to prove, but he had a handle on the romance and winning me over almost immediately. Oz and Racer are side characters who caught my attention a lot. Oz has his own personal battle going on which touched me, and Racer is totally adorable. Of course I knew Remy's son would be. I absolutely worship Remy. I was super excited when I discovered he was going to be a significant character in this story. After reading it, all I can think is how it is the perfect final book in this series. Remy will forever have my heart. This is a must read for every fan of the Real series. I loved it.

Every time I read a Katy Evans book, I fall a little more in love with her writing and her characters. Fighter/MMA romance books are not my favorite genre, but Katy could write about a dirty, smelly bum and make him look sexy! On one side, you have the Maverick who is aggressive and violent in the ring, but then you have the Maverick who is soft and sensual, and handles Reese with such intimate perfection. How can you NOT fall in love with all of that? Great plotline, dynamic characters and explosive sexual tension are just a few things to look forward to in this book. If you haven't read any of the other books in this series, I would highly recommend you read them because, well, it's Katy Evans! But if you haven't or want to just dive right into this one, you can do so without missing anything. I haven't had a chance to read any of the other books in this series yet, but I still was able to fully love and enjoy Legend. It's hard to sum up in words how much I love a Katy Evans book, so I'll just take a quote out of this book, that sums them all up perfectly. "Toe-curling. Panty-melting. Heart-pounding. Breathtaking."
