I received a complimentary copy of this book and I am voluntarily reviewing it. This was a quick read. I did enjoy it but it really felt a little off to me. Within 24 hour period a great deal of action, suspense, mystery and love took place and almost the solving of the crime. It just felt rushed to me. The characters were well-written and the plot moved quickly (again most of the book took place in a 24 hour period.) The one sexy scene raised a question to me. It didn't seem like there was any protection used and that bothered me for two people that really had just met a very short time ago. I must be getting old. The female protagonist was easy to read. There have been times when they tend to get on my nerves but Vanessa was well written. It was Vanessa's sister, Ruby that got a little short when Miles questioned her that bothered me here. I enjoyed the dual POV format. There was some interest between the two main protagonists while going through the events of stories to make it believable. The ending had a twist that I didn't see coming at all. There is one sexy scene that was short and that being said I cannot recommend this to anyone under the age of 18.

This is the seventh book in The Mavericks series. After 14 years as an active SEAL and freshly back from helping Ryker (book six) get Manila Folger out of the Colombian jungle, Miles is excited to have the chance to return home to the UK for his assignment as leader. Assisted by Nico, who had been with MI6 before coming to the US and serving as a SEAL, Miles learned that the rescue will involve women who’ve been taken by a serial kidnapper and may be linked to other kidnappings of red-haired women going back more than 15 years. Miles is shocked to learn that this specific case involves Vanessa Redburn, his long-time supermodel celebrity crush. His dream girl. What a way to meet the girl of your dreams for real. On the serious side, what an amazing (and sometimes creepy) storyline involving catching these people who believe it’s ok to treat innocent girls like possessions to be bought and sold. This is the 7th book in the fantastic Maverick series. Miles Radford, although English, had spent many years as a US Navy SEAL but was in need of another challenge. Having been back up for Ryker Lambert when they rescued Manilla, a geologist, from Colombian guerrillas, he was a bit envious of the blossoming love between Ryker and Manilla, wishing that he could find someone to settle down with. It was Miles turn to lead a two man mission, a sort of initiation, for the Mavericks, a covert black ops team with no rules but a reputation of getting the job done. When the call came he was happy to find that his handler was to be Ryker, his mission was to return to England to find a kidnapped model, his backup was to be his pal Nico, another ex Navy SEAL. 17 redheads had been kidnapped, the latest of which was Vanessa Redburn, a beautiful model who Miles had worshipped from afar for many years. The kidnappings had taken part over 17 years, one every year. This story follows the kidnapping and search for Vanessa and the blossoming love between Vanessa and Miles. Is Vanessa smart enough to escape from her kidnappers? Why were only redheads kidnapped and why yearly? Were the kidnappers involved in the sex trade? Why is Vanessa's cousin seen loitering outside her flat? Was Vanessa the intended victim or should it have been Ruby, her red headed younger sister|? Why are Interpol and MI6 involved? This book has all the usual Dale Mayer intrigue, suspense, and twists and turns , as always it is well researched and well written, a great book that I didn't want to end, I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
