About this ebook

Falling for her teacher is the least of her troubles

Amber's time at Ben Vair Academy hasn't been particularly fun. Having a tail makes her prone to bullying, even at a school for monsters, wizards and other mythical beings.

When a new teacher starts at the supernatural academy, she finds herself intrigued by the mysterious young man.

After he encounters her in her beithir form, she realises she may have finally found someone who understands her.

But when she agrees to help him on his quest, she gets more than she bargained for.

Through the Storms is an optional side story to the complete contemporary fantasy Seven Wardens series following Amber. It includes unusual Celtic and European mythology, plenty of adventure, and a romantic subplot.

Magical Mayhem -- The author calls this a spin-off of the Seven Wardens series, but it is more of a prequel showcasing two characters in the main series, showing how they met and their first “adventure” together. As I really enjoyed the Seven Wardens series, I found this look at Amber and Izban’s meeting and first interactions fascinating. It takes place while Amber is still at a supernatural college, currently being tormented by an unpleasant wolf shifter and her cronies who keep taking Amber's tail. She is a beithir, part dragon and part snake who has the human form as well. Izban fakes being a substitute instructor while seeking items on a list given to him by his grandfather. Izban is a mage and his grandfather is, essentially, the top mage. Izban doesn't know why his grandfather wants these items and is quite alarmed when he finds out why. Amber and Izban work together in a way that was fun to watch as you see Amber start to come into her powers as a beithir. The climax scene was quite exciting and imaginative. The story ends on a cliffhanger, with neither the reader nor Izban knowing what happened to Amber. Luckily, we meet her again in the Seven Wardens series. I enjoyed this short novella that added depth to a series I already enjoyed. -- I received a free copy of this book, but that did not affect my review.

Great addition to the Seven Wardens series with this spin off short story, it gives you more of an insight to Amber and is best read between book one and two. In the previous book we learned about the Seven Wardens and Macey has found herself in love with three men who all happen to be Wardens. Cam is Wind, Flint is Fire, Jared is Earth and Macey is assumed to be Water. This story is character building... Amber and Izban's story. Amber is a Beithir shifter at Ben Vair college (A Supernatural/Paranormal College) and is about to graduate! It hasn’t been an easy time and the Class Bully likes to pull her tale off … dick move! Her shifted state is similar to a large snake with a dragon head and a long tail; her tail is with her even in her “Human” form. This short story can be read as a standalones story, as it just covers Ice and Lightening, who don’t yet know their future roles as Wardens. Well written, interesting characters and fun read!

exciting and self reflective story - that ends this portion of it far too soon. I am enjoying all the pieces of the Seven Wardens stories I have read so far, but do not see quite how they fit together yet. A colorful society, with under-estimated talents and mythical creatures, and other folk who may not be as good or bad as they seem to be. A bit befuddling. Romantic overtones. Looking forward to the next connection! I received a free copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.

About the author

 About Skye MacKinnon

Skye MacKinnon is an International Bestselling author with a slight obsession with Scotland, bunnies and dried mango. And when she says slight... her friends are trying to find ways to trick her into not having a book set in Scotland. You'll often find Skye bribing herself into writing words using cake and tea, but whatever works, right? Whether they're set in space (Scottish space, obviously), fantasy worlds (Scottish fantasy worlds, obviously), or Scotland, Skye's tales are full of magic, romance and adventure. Oh and unicorns.

 About Laura Greenwood

Laura really needs to get around to writing a better biography. She's great at doing them for her friends, but not so much for herself. Until then...she's a USA Today Bestselling Author of Paranormal, Reverse Harem & Fantasy Romance...the romance being the important bit! From kelpies to dragons, and princesses to bakers, there's a wide range of heroines, with one thing in common: they know how to look after themselves. (But the romance is fun too!) When she's not writing, you can find Laura reading, cooking, baking or binge watching one of three TV shows. Or Pitch Perfect. She's been known to watch that a couple of times in a day.
