The Almost Queen book 10: Gwen and Lancelot’s story a retelling of an Arthurian legend. I’m a big fan of Arthurian legends, literature and myths. The Almost Queen I approached this with a great deal of trepidation. The Arthurian legends are near and dear to my heart and I couldn’t think of a way the author would be able to turn one of the most infamous love triangles into a happily ever after. I can safely say I am pleasantly impressed. This story takes the broad strokes of the original, the details that make it recognizable, and tips the whole thing over on its ear. Arthur and Gwen have been betrothed since birth but they think of themselves only as friends. When Gwen and Lancelot become an official couple, Arthur focuses his affections on Dindrane. Gerda attempts to keep her prophecy from happening by keeping to herself and her head down. These three quick reads are full of intrigue and romance, with each ending in a HEA. Very highly recommended. I received a copy of this book via Booksprout and am voluntarily leaving a review.
