About this ebook

Is the Heat a deadly fever…or a fiery desire that could save them both?

Deirdre Graves got lucky. When the Heat, a djinn-created virus, wiped out most of humanity, she was isolated at her university’s wildlife research station high in the mountains. Safe...for the moment.

But with winter closing in and her choices narrowing down to freezing or starving, she builds a device that could save her life. Trouble is, the only way to find out if it works is to leave her sanctuary and face the djinn.

One moment, Amaal al-Tariq is exploring his newly acquired mountain lands — or, more accurately, his place of exile. The next, he’s flat on his face, trapped by one delicate human woman carrying a device capable of rendering him helpless.

Regaining what is most precious to him — his freedom — means gaining Deirdre’s trust. If that means using the attraction simmering between them to his advantage, so be it. He just never expected her courage and compassion to reach the one thing he’s kept to himself for so long...his heart.

Forgotten is not forgettable, a book that I quickly plowed through in a matter of days. As the relationship between Deirdre and Amaal progresses, we see them go from capture and captive to a strong relationship in a matter of weeks. This is not a direct sequel to Stolen, it’s not required to read the previous book but one key piece you need to know is that there is a way to weaken the djinn. The story starts a few months after the Heat, Deirdre is at a crossroads with the decision to leave her current hide out or head to New Mexico, where she knows there are more survivors of the Heat. Eventually, in a clearing not too far from her location, Deirdre comes across Amaal, who is weakened from a device that Deirdre has on her person. She soon takes him captive and begins to try and understand what makes the djinn different from humans in a scientific manner. As time passes the pair begin to talk and get to know one another. Eventually, after sometime the pair begin to care for one another, Deirdre asks Amaal a question that could change everything. The response and reaction to the answer could make or break them as a couple. Overall, a great read. I highly recommend any of Christine Pope’s books. I have enjoyed all of them. This one has a lot of heart and gives you the feels. I couldn’t put it down after I started it was a gripping story. I’m excited to read more about the djinn and the after affects of the Heat. This makes for a great post apocalyptic romance without that apocalyptic feel. I did receive an ARC copy of this book, but it no way affects my opinion.

Christine Pope’s Djinn Dominion Book 2 “Forgotten” is again another excellent story with very impressive characters. Deirdre Graves, a University student, was at her school’s mountain wildlife research station when the Heat, the Djinn-created virus that wiped out humanity, hit the world. Unlike her other fellow students, Deirdre survives. For a time, she was safe and isolated high in the mountains. Deirdre builds a device that may save her life but she must leave the safety of where she is to see if it works. While surveying his newly exile mountain retreat given to him by the Djinn Elders, Amaal al-Tariq finds himself captured by a device held by one small female and which makes him completely helpless. Will the combination of Amaal’s attraction to this feisty human and Deirdre’s courage to stay independent be enough for both? This book is so very nicely written that it makes you just get wrapped into the characters. I am loving the Dominion series as much as I loved the original Djinn series. I'm a long-time fan of Christine Pope having read everything she's published. She writes so smoothly that you can pick up one of her books and just be carried away by the story. Once read you won’t be disappointed.

Loved this story! I absolutely love, loved this story! The author has penned another fantastic addition to her Djinn Dominion Series. These stories are a cross between an apocalypse tale and mythical fantasy that will keep you intrigued and on edge to find out what happens next. There’s a lot of romance and suspense in this story that will lead you to anxiously await the next book in the series. I highly recommend this paranormal romance to be your next read. This is a voluntary and well-deserved review of a free copy received from the author.
