This is the 11th book in the wonderful "K9Files" series about the unexplained disappearance of a number of war dogs, who have given their all for their country and deserve a happy retirement. Caleb and Laysha had been friends since childhood but had never taken it any further, Laysha had to convince Caleb that he needed to attend the wedding so that he could move on with his life. When Caleb and Laysha visited the deserted house where the dog had last been recorded they found a dead body, when shots were fired into Laysha's house it became obvious that the body and the shooting were connected to the missing dog and their lives were in danger. This dramatic, suspense filled story unfolds to include drugs, human trafficking and gruesome murders. Yup I can't say no to this honorable hero who's trying to rescue a war dog. It's full of suspense spiced up with family affair and second chance romance. Definitely an easy-to-read page-turner book although sometimes I felt like the renovation is taking most of the story, but I still enjoyed it nonetheless. Dale Mayer always write a wonderful heroes and I always love them all and Caleb it's not an exception, he's been through a lot with accident, injuries, rehab and his family betrayal, so now he's voluntarily trying to find and rescue a war dog, yup he's that wonderful man and the journey to rescue this dog "Beowulf" he finds love and finally made a peace with his past, yes Caleb totally deserves his happy ending, especially with his best friend Laysha, I love this couple, they're so in sync with each other. A sweet suspense romance with loveable characters and awesome dogs. A recommended book for everyone who loves a light suspense romance.

Well written, fast paced and characters you can love. Win-Win. For me there was not enough of Beowulff and his bonding with Caleb, but barring that I was thrilled I had an opportunity to read and review this arc. I like the way Dale Mayer handles the friendship of Caleb and Laysha and the progression to more. Believable and well paced. Laysha please come help redo my house! Talented, strong and compassionate is Laysha. As one who lived on the border, both sides this struck a lot of memories, good and bad. Grab and chair and read this fast pace story that will have your heart speeding up as they encounter issues and expanding with their love and compassion of all things. Thank you for the arc ! I freely volunteer my thoughts and opinions.
